A Little History

The Croagh School of Music was founded in 2001 by music graduates Darren Murphy and Marian Giltenane who had both completed their masters music degrees  in University of Limerick. They realised that there was a lack of music education facilities in west Limerick and north Munster in general and decided to offer music lessons adjecent to the D&M garden centre and restaurant in Croagh. Initially working out of a garden shed the demand expanded to three sheds and five teachers by 2004. By this stage the demand and waiting lists could not be catered for with the necessity for more space teaching rooms and staff. In 2005 the Croagh School of Music was built and completed for the September 2005 school term, with purpose built facilties such as 12 teaching rooms many with keyboard/piano available, a main classroom for Leaving Cert/Junior Cert/Theory classes and finally a performance hall with seating for approx 200 with stage and sound equpment and lighting.
